PRENYLAMIN

StockNo Product description
EB0280-424-19 PRENYLAMIN DRAGEE X 10

COMPOSITION:
Prenylamine lactate 15 mg, 30 mg and 60 mg in one dragee

ACTION:
The drug dilates the coronary vessels. It is assumed to act as calcium antagonist, but has no substantial effect on the contractility of the myocardium. It improves the vascular blood circulation, oxygen supply of the myocardium, increases its oxygen reserves and the concentration of ATP, creatinin, adenosine nucleotide and glycogen. It reduces the content of norepinephrine and serotonin in the myocardium and brain. It has a light blocking effect on beta-adrenergic receptors, about 50 % weaker than that of Propranolol. It reduces the peripheral vascular resistance and can induce a moderate blood pressure drop. In high doses and in cases of tachycardia, it leads to deceleration of cardiac activity.

INDICATIONS:
Treatment of chronic coronary insufficiency and prophylaxis of anginal paroxysms; disturbances in brain blood circulation, hypertension, cor pulmonale. It is not sufficiently effective in acute angional paroxysms.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Snock. Cardiac conduction disturbances (grave atrioventicular and intraventicular disturbances).

SIDE EFFECTS:
Rarely dyspeptic disturbances (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea). Skin allergic reactions, quickly abating after discontinuation of the treatment. Parkinson-like tremor can be observed during a long-term course. It is not well tolerated by patients with hypotension and pronounced cardiosclerosis.

PRECAUTIONS:
High doses should not be taken by drivers and by persons performing activities associated with concentration of attention, as the latter is failing and fatigue is likely to occur. It should not be prescribed to patients with advanced cardiac defect prior to their digitalization. Do not prescribe to children and keep the drug out of their reach (300 mg cause convulsions).

DRUG INTERACTIONS:
It enhances the antihypertensive effect of betablockers, hence their dose should be decreased.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Prscribed in 0.015-0.03 g per intake, 2-3 times daily; in more severe cases - 0.06-0.12 g, 2-3 intakes (i.e. 0.06 g prenylamin gragees).

MEDICINAL FORM AND PACKAGE:
Packages of 10 dragees.

STORAGE:
At moderate temperature (15-30° C).

EXPIRY:
3 (three) years.
