ACTION:
Baycain is a local anesthetic for stomatological purposes, in three solutions differing in appearance and concentration of the added vasoconstrictive component. This enables the dentist to use the most appropriate combination in each case.
Compared to procaine, baycain anesthesia advances twice as fast, being deeper and longer. Baycain has a very good tolerance, equal to the local and general tolerance of procaine. Its property to reduce the toxicity of the added vasoconstrictors is another valuable quality of baycain, the toxicity of epinephrine being reduced by about 30%.

INDICATIONS:
Baycain "yellow", containing 4 mg epinephrine, is characterized by a very good vasoconstrictive action and deep anesthesia. It is applied in exceptionally painful and long-lasting interventions.
Baycain "blue", containing a combination of epinephrine and norepinephrine of 2 mg as vasoconstrictors, is characterized by a very good tolerance and can be used in the daily practice of various painful procedures and surgical operations.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity to some of the components of the drug, myasthenia and sulfonamide therapy. It should be administered very cautiously in cases of grave cardiac, hepatic and renal insufficiency, as well as in hyperthyroidism.

SIDE EFFECTS:
General weakness, dizziness, allergic rashes and tinnitus can be observed with high doses, as well as tachycardia, angina pectoris, headache and tremor.

PRECAUTIONS:
All patients should be tested for hypersensitivity by epicutaneous or other tests prior to baycain administration.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:
The effect of baycain is reduced by its simultaneous administration with glucose, analeptics, calcium preparations, as well as in acid medium. It diminishes the antimicrobbial activity of sulfonamides and should not be combined with them.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Usually 1-2 ampoules of the respective form of baycain are sufficient for conduction anestheia. Complete anesthesia occurs after about 5-10 min, with baycain "yellow" the anesthesia lasts about 2 h.

MEDICINAL FORM AND PACKAGE:
Packages with 10, 50 and 100 ampoules of 2 ml - 3%.
