PSYCHOFORIN

StockNo Product description
EB0280-410-20 PSYCHOFORIN AMPOULE 2ML (1.25%)

COMPOSITION:
Imipramine hydrochloride 1.25 % injection solution

ACTION:
The main representative of the tricyclic antidepressants. It reduces the depressive effects of reserpin, enhances the effects of sympathicomimetics, and has a predominantly central cholinolytic activity. It suppresses the reuptake of catecholamines and serotonin in synapses, without blocking the postsynaptic receptors, which leads to increased content of transmitters in the area of the receptors. Mood and capacity for work are improved in patients with deprssion, and a critical attitude to their disease is cultivated.

PHARMACOKINETICS:
Psychoforin binds quickly to plasma proteins (mainly lipoproteins) in 96% in adults but in a considerably lower percentage in newborn babies. It is metabolized into diethylimipramine, which has a better manifested pharmacological effect. The time of its plasma half-life is from 9 to 20 h.

INDICATIONS:
Depression of various etiology and symptomatology; endogenous (periodic depressions and ordinary melancholy), involutive, climacteric, reactine, neurotic depressions, depressive states in psychovegetative exchaustion, depression on psychasthenic and psychopathic basic, larvated depressions, enuiresis nocturna and schizophrenic psychosis.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
States of excitation; acute diseases of liver, kidneys, hemopoietic system; in diabetes, cardiovascular decompensation, disorder of cardiac conductivity, manifested atherosclerosis; active lung tuberculosis, infectious diseases, glaucoma, hypertrophy of the prostate gland, pregnancy.

SIDE EFFECTS:
Xerostomia; confusion, insomnia, disorders in the digestive tract, allergization; Parkinson-like symptoms, hyperreflexia and tremor. Disorders in the blood count (leukopenia and agranulocytosis).

PRECAUTIONS:
The liver function should be controlled. Psychoforin reduces alcohol tolerance. It unfavorably affects the promptness and accuracy of reactions - to be administered cautiously to drivers! To be prescribed cautiously to epileptic patients.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:
It is incompatible with MAO-inhibitors, with phenothiazine neuroleptics. Do not prescribe in parallel with drugs from the thyroid gland. Its simultaneous administration with estrogen can induce psychic and neurological disorders.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Individual. In light case subjected to outpatient treatment, to be prescribed in a dose of 15-75 mg, with a gradual increase. In more severe cases, under hospital conditions, the daily dose can reach 25--350 mg, most often as a result of the combination of the tablet and injection forms.
