ACIDUM NICOTINICUM

StockNo Product description
EB0280-410-01 ACIDUM NICOTINICUM AMPOULE 10MG /1ML (1%)

COMPOSITION:
Nicotinic acid 10 mg/l in one ampoule

ACTION:
Nicotinic acid has versatile effects on the human organism. Regardless of its vitamin properties it also has a vasodilatory, blood-cholesterol-reducing and antifibrionic effect. The reduced level of blood cholesterol results from inhibition of the release of free fatty acids from the adipose tissue which leads to lower level of triglycerides and to inhibition of cholesterol synthesis. The vasodilatory effect results from the myotropically action. The nicotinic acid dilates the small blood vessels: arterioles, capillaries and venulae, thus increasing the blood flow towards the ischemic focus. The lack of effect or the deterioration of brain blood circulation in certain cases of nicotinic acid administration is probably associated with the presence of brain venous stasis.

INDICATIONS:
Cerebral - vascular spasms and peripheral disturbances in blood circulation; atherosclerosis of brain vessels; diabetes mellitus; nervous and psychic diseases; maniac-depressive psychosis, schizophrenia, stupor, asthenic-neurasthenic phenomena.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Severe forms of hypertonic disease and atherosclerosis.

SIDE EFFECTS:
The following symptoms can be observed in isolation cases: sense of burning, itching and flushing in some skin areas (mainly of the face and upper half of the body), dizziness, urticaria; tachycardia, extrasystoles and hypotension; abnormal pain, intensified peristalsis, nausea, sometimes vomiting. These phenomena are transient (about 30-40 minutes after their appearance0, not necessitating treatment and without sequelae.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Usually intramuscularly - 0,1 or intravenously - 0,05 (very slowly!), 1-2 times daily for 10-15 days. The subcutaneous and intramuscular injections of nicotine acid are painful, while those of nicotinamide are not, hence the latter is preferable for parenteral administration in some cases.

MEDICAL FORM AND PACKAGE:
Packages with 10 and 50 ampoules of 10 mg/ml (1%).

STORAGE:
At moderate temperature (15-30 C) in a place protected from light.

EXPIRY:
5 (five) years.
